CLUB NEWS

Beginner Tournament Sunday, December 7th, at 2:00pm at the Rec Center

cameraWrestling Pictures: Beginner Wrestlers will have their pictures taken on Thursday, December 4th, 2008. Information packets will be handed out at practice on December 2nd.

Advanced Wrestlers will have their pictures taken on Thursday, December 11th, 2008. Information packets will be handed out at practice on December 9th.


SIGN-UP FEES: 2008-2009 Wrestling Membership and Dues are $60. This includes a $30 basic membership due and a $30 fee for a USA Card. (Along with the membership, wrestlers will receive a singlet and free entry into 10 tournaments. The estimated cost of the singlet is $45. The estimated cost of ten tournaments is $150. Parents must volunteer to help with the Ark City Invitational on December 13, 2008 in order to receive the full benefits of the Takedown Club which are listed above.) Every wrestler who competes in a tournament MUST have a USA Card. This fee is due up-front when a wrestler enrolls in the program.

The cost for Beginners ONLY who do not intend to compete in a tournament or continue to practice after December 7th, 2008, is $20 for one child, $15 for each additional child in the same family.

Wrestling gear and attire: Wrestlers competing in tournaments should wear an official Ark City Takedown Club singlet. Other required gear includes head gear and wrestling shoes. These items can be purchased at most sporting goods stores including Jan's Sport Shack in Arkansas City.

ADDITIONAL CLASS INFORMATION

Beginners: The beginning program is for pre-school through second grade and for first and second year wrestlers who will not be competing in tournaments. It teaches the basic fundamentals of wrestling. A class tournament is held at the end of the program on December 7th, 2008. All participants will receive an award. If any beginner wrestler decides to continue practice in December and compete in any tournaments, he must pay the additional $40-$45 fees for the team singlet and tournament entry.

The Beginners practice at the Rec Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:15pm - 6:00pm, beginning on Tuesday, November 4th, 2008, and ending with the class tournament on Sunday, December 7th, 2008.

Enrollment Fee: $20 for first child, $15 for each additional child in the family

 

Takedown Club/Advanced: This is for any wrestler that has wrestled competitively in the past or will be competing this year. It is also for any beginner wrestler that is in the third grade or higher. This collegiate style wrestling is under the supervision of qualified volunteer coaches. Instruction is given on the fundamentals of wrestling and advanced technique. Opportunities for competition in local and out of town tournaments are offered.

This group starts November 3rd, 2008, and practices at the Rec Center on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6:00pm - 7:30pm.

Middle Schoolers (6th, 7th, and 8th graders) will practice at the high school at 6:00pm

Enrollment Fee: $60 per wrestler (which includes: membership, a singlet, 10 tournament entry fees, and a USA Card). Parents must also volunteer to help at the Ark City Invitational on December 13, 2008, to receive the full benefits listed above.
