Important Information for Wrestlers

Club t-shirts are in!!!
The Ark City Takedown Club long and short sleeve t-shirts have arrived. They shoudl have been picked up on December 5th or 6th. If you did not get your shirt, please see Sydney Lough. Thank you!!!

More T-Shirt Information: A second shirt order will be placed on December 22nd. The contact person for the t-shirts is Sydney Lough.

Warm-ups:  (All orders have been finalize) We order these through GTM Sportswear.  It is a high quality fleece pant for $22.50 and hoodie for $27.50.  They are (Youth) YS, YM, YL, and (Adults) S, M, L, XL, XXL.  Check or Cash due by Thursday night, 11/17.

Beginners Tournament:
               Held On Tuesday, November 29th at 5:00pm, this Beginners practice tournament was held in the Wrestling Room at the Rec. Center.  All wrestlers in the Beginners class received a medal this night. 

We are also encouraging all beginning wrestlers to participate in the Ark City Takedown Club NOVICE tournament on Sunday Dec. 11th at the Ark City High School.  The tournament starts at 10am.  The entry fee for the tournament is paid for by the club.  As part of the Takedown Club, each wrestler must have one family member willing to volunteer to help run our tournament on either Saturday, Dec. 10th for the OPEN classes or Sunday Dec. 11th for the NOVICE. 
   
In order to wrestle in ANY tournament (other than the in-house Beginner's practice tournament), Wrestlers MUST have:

1.  Wrestling shoes (in which the laces are taped or secured by an existing flap on the shoe)
2.  Headgear (mandatory for all tournaments in Kansas.  Make sure to take the time to fit them properly.)
3.  Singlet ( T-shirts and shorts are not permitted at tournaments.) 

Sign-up Fees, Membership, Dues, and More

Beginners Group:

Practice:   5:00p – 6:00p on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Ages 4-6 years old, or first year wrestlers.  Practices are open for parents, but please avoid bringing younger children who are not participating.  Wrestlers need to wear shorts, t-shirts, and wrestling shoes or socks.  Street shoes should not be worn on the mat.  Practices for the beginners will run from November 1st  until December 8th.  Our Beginners Tournament will be held at 5:00pm on Tuesday, November 29th in the wrestling room at the Rec Center. Beginners will also have an opportunity to wrestle in the Ark City Invitational NOVICE tournament on Sunday, December 11th.  Entry fee will be paid by the club.  Parents or family members will be required to help work the tournament. 
Fees:     Total = $20
Goal:   To teach kids the fundamental aspects of wrestling in a fun and challenging environment.  Should your novice wrestler want to continue on with the season, there are many novice opportunities for them which we can discuss at the end of the beginners season.  Should your wrestler like to move on past the Ark City Tournament, they will have the option to move to the Advanced Group practices at the High School for an additional $10.  If they choose to participate in any other sanctioned USAW wrestling tournament they will need to purchase a USAW wrestling card at $35. 

Advanced Group:

Practice:  6:00p-8:00p on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.  Closed practice until 7:30p
Kids need shorts, t-shirts and shoes.  Do not wear wrestling shoes on the street and then walk on the mats.  Bring shoes separate and change into wrestling shoes. 

Fees:   Total = $65.  Covers $30 club fee plus $35 USAW membership card.  The entry fee to the Ark City tournament will be paid for if a family member volunteers at ACTC home tournament on Dec. 10th and 11th. To participate in any tournament, you MUST sign-up for the tournaments by the due date.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  If you do not sign-up and pay the required fee, you will NOT be entered into the tournament.  Sign-up sheets will be on the bulletin board in the Wrestling Room.  

General Information:

Singlets:  Team singlets are owned by the club.  Susan Buckbee is handling singlet checkout.  ALL club singlets are to be returned clean when your wrestler finishes the season or by the end of the year banquet.  This is the largest expense to our club.  Every wrestler WILL check-in their singlet at the end of the season.  Machine wash the singlet on “COLD” then hang up to dry.  DO NOT put the singlet in a dryer. Singlet Contract for Wrestlers and Parents.

Singlets at Tournaments: As a member of the Ark City Takedown Club it is expected that wrestlers will wear the Ark City Takedown Club singlet in all team attended tournaments.  Ark City Takedown singlets must be worn in all medal rounds at any other tournaments.  It is easier to spot our wrestlers on the mat for the coaches and members in the audience.  It is the responsibility of the wrestler to let the coach know when they are getting ready for a match. 

Warm-ups:  ACTC will be taking orders for fleece Hooded Sweatshirts and Sweatpants from November 1st – 17th. Money must be given to us before order is turned in on Nov 18th. Hooded sweatshirts cost $27.50.  Pocketed sweatpants cost $22.50. Order forms are on the bulletin boards in the wrestling room. Scott MacLaughlin is the contact person for warm-ups.

2011-2012 Club Team T-Shirts:  We will be ordering new club T-shirts this year with sponsors on the back.          Short Sleeve = $12       Long Sleeve = $15. To order a club T-shirt fill out the order form and return form and money by 11/17 to Sydney Lough, Wes Lough, or Jennifer Collins.  Orders will be taken until Thursday Nov. 17th.  Must be paid for in advance.
